Lake Wenatchee Skiing 2014 – Better Late Than Never

Lake Wenatchee Skiing in 2014 has been pretty horrible, but a storm in February has allowed the park to start grooming in earnest. It’s hard to tell what the future will bring since there is rain forecast for this week. We did manage to get up to Nason Ridge above Kahler Glen and it was a great ski on Sunday.

Get current snow/weather conditions at the park here: http://www.nwac.us/weatherdata/lakewenatchee/now/
As of February 9, 2014.
General Conditions: Just enough additional snow to hit everything with the snocats! All trails groomed except Chiwawa this morning. We will still have thin areas under trees. Tracks will not be set on some trails where trail base is too thin. Looks like a great day for skiing!
South Park: Grooming underway right now.
Nason Ridge: A late decision to use snocats rather than snowmobile (as planned) means a late start. Heading out right now to snocat groom the entire route; full skate lane and single track. We still cannot groom across Kahler Golf course due to thin snow cover – follow snowmobile packed route (packed yesterday) across the golf course about 1 km. or so to reach fresh grooming.
North Park: All trails groomed this morning, tracks set on all trails except along the lakeshore.
Chiwawa: Groomed with snowmobile Friday. Full grooming schedule will occur when late snow/season-start stabilizes.
Permits required: Sno-Park permits required in all areas effective Saturday 2/8. A Season Sno-Park pass with Groomed Trails sticker will get you into all parking areas ($80). The Daily Sno-Park pass $20) also requires an Annual or Daily Discover Pass in the park (no Discover Pass needed at Nason). Also, we are providing self-pay stations at each parking area within the park for daily Sno-Park and daily Discover Passes. Sno Park permits are available online: https://fortress.wa.gov/parks/ecomm/sno/dsnostp0.asp
