Leavenworth’s February Events
The Pineapple Express has certainly made itself known in and around Leavenworth. Looking at the snow (or lack thereof) it feels more like April than February.
Pure Passion–Feb 4th.
Icicle Creek Musical Center presents Andre Feriante (guitarist), Overton Berry (pianist) & Steve Thoreson (vocalist) in a performance spanning all musical genres. Hosted at the Sleeping Lady Chapel Theatre, it will be a night of pure passion. $30. 7:30pm
Bakke Cup–Feb 5th
Head up to Ski Hill for a great day of outdoor skiing events! Ski Jumping, Nordic Races and Alpine Events will all take place in the afternoon. Anyone is welcome to participate and all proceeds will benefit the Junior Alpine Team. Registration begins at 11am. $10/person, $25/family.
Hidden Meanings in Yoga–Feb 5
Snowcreek Yoga hosts a workshop exploring the spiritual meaning behind the poses in Yoga. Liz Doyle will explain the metaphor, myth, and symbology in yoga poses, broadening participants’ understanding and encouraging self discovery. $45. 1:30-4:30pm
Chicks on Sticks–Feb 6th
Join us for this WOMEN’S only event. This 8km ski event is great for skiers of all abilities. Proceeds will be donated to The Wellness Place in Wenatchee which provides direct services for breast cancer patients. Register online or right before the event. Start at 9:30am. $25
The Michael Carlos Band–Feb 11
Leavenworth Community Coffee house presents The Michael Carlos Band at Barn Beach Reserve. The band spans a range of genres from latin to blues to rock. 7:30pm, $3/Adult, Free/12 and under.
Red Wine & Chocolate–Feb 11-14
Take a walk this Valentine and visit Leavenworth wine tasting rooms for chocolates and special tastings. Participating wineries vary. Fee may apply.
Carnival Day–Feb 12
Head up to Ski Hill for a day of family fun. Lots of activities going on including Face Painting, BBQ, Fireworks, Fun Races, Tubing and more! FREE
Liebestraume: A Musical Valentine To Schumann And Brahms–Feb 12
Icicle Creek Music Center continues its concert series with a theme on Love to celebrate Valentines Day. The concert focuses on the works of Clara & Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. An unforgettable evening of music, chocolate and wine from Ginko Forest Winery. 7:30pm, Wren Canyon Recital Hall, $21/Adult, discount for seniors and students.
Winter Fiddle Festival–Feb 19-22
A new event for the Icicle Creek Music Center, the festival is geared towards intermediate and advanced fiddle workshops. There will be plenty of opportunities for jam session as well as instruction for back up guitar, banjo, and mandolin. See the ICMC website for more details about pricing and accommodations.
Barn Dance–Feb 19
What is a fiddle festival without a Barn Dance? Music will be provided by The Jake Lake Trio, an old-time fiddle band. There will be square, contra, and couples dancing. Come by for a swinging good time! 7:30pm, Wren Canyon Recital Hall, $5/Adult, $3/Children.
“A Sense of Wonder”–Feb 19
Barn Beach Reserve continues its film series with A Sense of Wonder, a film about Rachel Carson’s life. In addition, the short film Lessons from Carson will also be shown featuring contemporary environmentalists reflecting on Carson’s life and the challenges ahead. 7pm
“Healing Self, Healing Earth: Awakening Presence, Power, and Passion”–Feb 25
Barn Beach Reserve brings Roy Holman for an evening of meditation & awareness. Holman is a certified Viniyoga instructor and is also certified in Reflexology, Meditation, and Energy Healing. 7pm
Hog Loppet Ski Tour –Feb 26
Time for the 2011 Hog Loppet. The Loppet is a non-competitive 30k Ski Trek from the top of Mission Ridge Ski Area to Blewett Pass. Yoga for Skiers–Feb 26
Not feeling up to the Hog Loppet challenge this year? Head to Snowcreek Yoga Studio for their Yoga for Skiers workshop. TonjaRenee Hall, a Seattle yoga coach who has worked with many professional sports teams, will give a workshop on how to use yoga to train for winter sports. This class is for all levels and abilities. $45. 1:30-4:30pm.
