Thinking of escaping the grey clouds of Seattle for the sunshine of Leavenworth in the next week or two?  If you are, here are some events you might check out once you are in town.
Sept 18 &19–20th Annual Salmon Fest:
Celebrate the return of the salmon to Leavenworth’s rivers and creeks.  There are activities happening all weekend for all ages.  Admission is FREE!  www.salmonfest.org 
Sept 18th–Leavenworth Crush Festival
Apples and pears aren’t the only thing ready for harvest.  Head to the Festhalle for the annual Crush Festival.  Twenty-six wineries are participating include Eagle Creek, Ryan Patrick, and Tamarack. $30 gets you in the door, 15 tastes of wine, and maybe some purple feet.
Sept 24-26–Autumn Leaf Festival
The annual Autumn Leaf Festival kicks off Friday afternoon with entertainment at the Gazebo.  The grand parade begins Saturday at Noon.  The local Lions Club is hosting a pancake breakfast each morning at Lions Club Park located beside the public pool.  http://www.autumnleaffestival.com/
Sept 26–Harvest Dinner, Sleeping Lady Resort
Chef Ken MacDonald presents an organic feed paired with local wines.  Enjoy wine tasting while touring their organic garden followed by a family style meal.   Most items are gluten free, but inform them ahead of time and they will make sure food allergies are taken care of.  This month’s dinner features Seafood Chowder and Wild Salmon. http://www.sleepinglady.com/event-calendar.php?page=current
