The 2013 Hog Loppet Ski Tour is set for February 23rd.
Hog Loppet is a non-competitive 30k Ski Trek from the top of Mission Ridge Ski Area to Blewett Pass for experienced cross country skiers. Navigate both groomed and ungroomed trail and all types of terrain on this highly exciting trek. The wildfires of 2012 probably opened up this area considerably and the rumors are that the skiing will be even better than in years past.
Hog Loppet is an event run by the amazing folks at the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club and sponsored by.... your friends here at www.IcicleCreekHomes.com. This is now the 4th year we have been proud to be the title sponsor of this great event.
The Ski Club recommends the use of the round trip shuttle service, which you can elect during registration. You can park in either Leavenworth or in Wenatchee and you get dropped off at Mission Ridge and then ride the bus home from Blewett Pass. There isn't much parking at Blewett Pass so this makes lots of sense.
$55 before Feb 8th, $70 after Feb 8th (shuttle service is an additional $25) Register Online.
Last year the event unfortunately had to be cancelled at the very last minute due to weather conditions. The winds were blowing at 70-80 mph and it just wasn't safe for the organizers to send skiers out in those conditions. I (Geordie) was on the bus like a lot of you, along with my dad and our favorite real estate photographer Jesse Cunningham. It was disappointing not to ski, but I'm so glad no one was hurt or lost.
Registrants for the cancelled 2012 Hog Loppet will receive an email from the Leavenworth Ski Club with a discount code for this year's entry fee.
If you haven't been out on nordic skis this year.... better get started soon. Hope to see you all out on the course or at the after party in Leavenworth.
