Ira Finklestein’s Christmas Vacation – A New Leavenworth Film
Have you heard that Leavenworth is going to be in the movies again?
Ira Finkelstein’s Christmas Vacation is the story “of a Jewish kid who’ll stop at nothing to celebrate Christmas.”

Written and produced by Von Piglet Productions, it was originally to be set in a Christmas town in Vermont. However, after a couple of location scouting trips to Leavenworth they have decided to not only film here, but also to change the story so that it actually takes place in Leavenworth as well.
Filming will occur in mid-February through early March so you’ll likely see the Christmas lights up a little longer this year. (You can spread the word that it’s not lazy shopkeepers who haven’t gotten around to taking down their lights, the lights will be up for a reason.)
Apparently there will be a scene that includes a Christmas parade in downtown Leavenworth. If we get the word about a need for extras we’ll be happy to pass it along.

Do you know if they are still looking for extras? i wrote to ryan’s email but haven’t heard back. specifically, i am wondering if they are looking for children as extras, as my 11 year old daughter and her friend would like to be involved. thoughts?
Stephanie – It’s my understanding that they do still need folks. Ryan has been good about replying to emails, but you might try his phone too.
Hey! I was an extra today. I had fun but it was chilly! HAHA! Anyways, I sent an e-mail to Ryan about wanting to do more then just the parade but I found an error in the message after it was sent. D: The pants/shirt size wasn’t on there. I’d be more then happy to resend it? Anyways, my mom tell me you guys are filming at the airport the 13th (she works there) and I would love to be a part of that, if you guys still have more room for another extra of course.
Allyson was downtown for the parade today too. It sounds like they need 100 people on Friday night for more filming.
Yeah, it was a great turn out at the parade- I think! Too bad more people don’t get involved. Will Friday be in Leavenworth at the same time as today? Or is it elsewhere and/or a different time?
I had the opportunity to be an extra… I wasn’t selected but my husband was… great fun being on the set in Seattle and watching “behind the scenes”.
well i do live in leavenworth washington you know what is hilariouse when they were starting the movie the day before the blew a TON of snow into that area and the next day it DUMPED SNOW!!!!!!! lol
